I have seen this change only in the last week. There appears to be a problem that may have originated in changes within the data-base. When I rebuilt my 64 bit system the 'bad' tag problem became apparent (something that was fixed a long time ago) where the tag data appears to include other very large binary garbage with some jpg and tif files. This in turn is probably sucking up enough resources that the 32 bit system is becoming impossible to use.
Probably, unless one makes a system rebuild, and freshly imports images this would not be seen on most systems. When I look at the 'unclassified' tags there are now an enormous list showing garbage entries .... a few days ag there were none.
