Hi,

I branched darktable on github and created a branch named
demosaic-algos for version 1.5. I've added two 'experimental' demosaic
codes for high noise situations. I have not yet added border
interpolation and plan to drop the unused pixels to prevent
differences in demosaic rendering. IGV is pretty powerful.

- igv with OpenMP support from rawtherapee. Suitable for high noise,
i.e. for the Sony NEX-C3 suitable for 1600 iso, 3200 iso and 6400 iso,
about 90 minutes work to port.
- stagger with OpenMP support, home-brewed. Suitable for very high
noise, i.e. for the Sony NEX-C3, under exposed 6400 and 12800 iso
shots.

I might port more demosaic codes from RawTherapee but amaze and igv
seem to give the best results for my camera. Most likely I am
interested in adding newer more advanced demosaic codes that perform
better than amaze.

People who are interested in the algorithms and want to give feedback
can go here and pick a commit that is not mentioned to be broken.

some things one should now:

- Currently there is no border interpolation, border pixels are simply
as allocated from memory.
- Stagger. It does not smooth color noise, it leaves it to the
profiled denoising module to remove them. The edge threshold slider is
used to enable 'green edge awareness'. Slide it to the left to
increase edge-awareness and increase noise. About 0.2-0.3 are nice
values for the Sony NEX.

Feedback and advice is welcome. Particular on any pitfalls I might encounter.

Cheers,

Gert
