Hello all.

I may get shot for this question, but here goes:

Is it possible to have darktable use libOpenCL without installing
proprietary graphics drivers?

I have googled a bit and found this
http://streamcomputing.eu/blog/2011-06-24/install-opencl-on-debianubuntu-orderly/
but I haven't tried it yet.

I'm using the latest driver from ATI for my Radeon 6700M. When I try
add an external LED monitor there is crazy flickering and sometimes
loss of mouse focus, using that driver.

This laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 - the fan sounds like boeing about
preparing for takeoff if I use the opensource drivers for image
processing. Gets seriously warm too.

Both darktable and GIMP are relatively slow without libOpenCL which I
have gotten to really enjoy using.

So I'd be extremely happy if it was possible to avoid ATI drivers but
be able to edit using libOpenCL.

Regards

Dave
