Hi, I've noticed an issue with the Equalizer and Profiled Denoise plugins when they are applied to large areas with smooth colour gradients (see e.g. the sky in [0], that's with the equaliser-plugin (sharpen & denoise preset)). I'm unfamiliar with the eq's algorithms, maybe there it is to be expected, however:
- the same thing happens with the profiled denoise plugins, but only when using wavelet and non-local means simultaneously, profiled wavelet and profiled nlm are fine on their own. - the banding is hardly visible from inside darktable when using the eq and invisible when using profiled denoise. It only shows up in the exported jpg, even at 99 jpeg quality without resizing. That's not normal behaviour... I've uploaded the RAW file, sidecar, plus a few full res exported jpgs with various plugin combinations [1]. The jpgs were exported a few days ago with a month-old git pull, but I've reproduced the error in a pull from today. Camera is a Pentax K5 II, shooting Pentax's proprietory PEF format. Any ideas? Any more info I can give you?
