No single module replace the equalizer, but if you use it only for
clarity you may want to try the local contraste module.

I'm always running with LittleCMS on.

Activating OpenCL if supported by your systems may help a lot I suppose.
Have you tried? Did you looked at the manual on how to do this and more
importantly the section about how to diagnose issues with OpenCL?
