Hi,
I'm a newcomer to Darktable and I like it. However, after importing a big
catalog (mostly NEFs, but many TIFFs and JPGs) I started experiencing a
significant slowdown when starting the program or switching from Darkroom
to Lighttable (from LT to DR is always fast), it takes many minutes with DT
at 100% CPU.
I then noticed that DT had added tags to all TIFFs and JPGs, namely data
from IPTC fields to tags. This resulted in thousands and thousands of new
tags. Potentially, 86400 x all time zones you've shot at = a lot of tags :-)
I played around with different database files and I can have a big db in DT
with everything working fast if there are no TIFF or JPG files in that db.
I was told in the users' mailing list that there was a bug of this sort in
an older version of DT. So I might suffer from something similar?
Most of the TIFF and JPG files were Photoshop or Lightroom created, but
there were some files from other sources and all that had metadata had
those same new tags for date time etc.
Thanks,
Mika
