Hi, your current darktable version is obviously older than the last one you have used to edit your photos. There is no way of downgrading to older versions withtout risking parts of your newer edits.
From the version numbers you gave it seems that you have been working with darktable 1.4.2 and are now back to 1.4.0 or 1.4.1. Best option for you: find a way to upgrade to 1.4.2 which is the most recent stable darktable version.
