Yes, I know this option. Usually however I am using the "Best for Display"
setting, because the "More Space" turns into rather small fonts & user
interfaces. As a workaround I could switch to this option when using darktable.

The effect I describe is still noticeable (even though less visible due to the
higher resolution) also with the "More Space" setting active. But not so bad as
in the default resolution so this could be ok for most photo editing.

On the other hand, the version I compiled from scratch with X11 gtk backend
shows pixel-perfect interface in full screen mode.

I have uploaded a few screenshots here: http://we.tl/Di7mXeHcbs
View the pictures at 100% zoom and you'll notice the difference: the only one
delivering the same quality as the Lightroom demo is X11 in full screen mode
and resolution set to 2880x1800 with xrandr.

Last, a comment on my first message: I didn't want to be disrespectful of your
great work by defining it "unusable"... but switching from the Lightroom demo
to Darktable, the difference in image rendering was huge.
