you mean when you exit dr (not dt)?
there are a couple of settings affecting the quality of your thumbnails in
your darktablerc. if you're unhappy with your current results, i would try
and play around with:
lower resolution when you use heavy cropping/lens correction:
plugins/lighttable/low_quality_thumbnails=FALSE
dxt texture compression of cache at runtime:
cache_compression=off
jpg compression when writing the cache to disk on exit:
database_cache_quality=89
(these are my settings)
