we just released darktable 1.6.0, the first stable release for some time
now.
the release notes and relevant downloads can be found attached to this git
tag:

thanks everyone for helping out with this!
some post-release info:
we branched off darktable-1.6.x which will contain some back-ported
bugfixes for a while, and probably release 1.6.1 soon when enough fixes
have piled up.
master is now tagged as 1.7.0, such that git describe --tags gives you
something meaningful.
we'll give the packagers among you some time to catch up with this before
we announce publicly (users list and blog).
