In fact (for Fujis, of course) DR-auto only switches automatically 
between DR100 and DR200. And everything that is required is written in 
the EXIF data (that it was DR auto, that 200% was chosen, and the 
provided ISO is the same as if DR was chosen manually).

I was asking about this a few days ago, and wrote a LUA script to manage 
this automatically (to at least have a style correct the underexposure 
and the basecurve). It works, suprisingly, quite well.
