Hi all,

I don't ask of the basic meaning of the histogram. My question is more technical and it divides into sub questions:

* What is the data basis of the histogram? The whole pixel data of the
  image or a downsampled representation?

* When in the pipeline is the histogram produced? How does it belong to
  the exported image?

* What is the colour space used for the histogram? The output colour
  space?

* What range does the x axis cover? Does it belong to the 8 bit range
of the rendered monitor output? And if yes, how would it belong to
the exported image's colour space, especially if it is
  bounded/unbounded?

Unfortunately, the manual (https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s03s06.html.php) is not very verbose regarding this topic. There is some information on the mailing list, but it's more than three years old and not comprehensive as well. Could you give me a hint, please?

Thanks & best regards

Chris
