Thumbnail cache (I have 2.0.5) "enable disk backend for thumbnail cache"
this is a core option - it was not checked by default.
command line tool to generate them ahead of time (can take a while if
you have a lot of images but speed up is considerable). I don't think
you can use DT while command is run.

When you search for images - collect images - you can use "and" options
- for example - you are in a folder then the next condition - tag |
darktable|format|jpg etc

The tagging is actually very good. You can have your own tags and
organize them in good structures like "mytag1|purpose" "mytag1|project"
etc. so they are well grouped.
