I would do the following

1. Select the folder or location with all images that you filter

2. Add a rule narrow down selection. Change it to "except"

Look at the bottom - "combining rules"

Works for me on ubuntu 14.04 and DT 2.0.5

and I want to exclude them from my search so I can select which images
to tag, which image to process in darkroom...
