hi all,

A bit simpler:
1. Enable drawn and parametric mask.
2. Click Invert all channels polarities button.
    - this toggle combine masks to inclusive;
- all channels input and output sliders polarities toggled from '+' to '-';
    - drawn mask polarity toggled from '-' to '+'.
3. Toggle channel input cursor polarity that you want to update to '+' and set the input cursor to get the desired parametric mask. 4. Toggle drawn mask polarity to '-'; this temporarily hides the parametric mask. Trace the drawn mask.

Hope the mail server but this under the correct order.

Hooray!

It looks like I found a way to combine additively a parametric mask and a drawn mask.

Let‘s start with the parametric mask.

1.) First change the combine masks setting to inclusive.

2.) Next to invert all channels L a b C h - input an output via the polarity button on the right side of each channel. _*EXCEPT*_the input of the channel you want to use for selecting the mask. Like in my case the L channel to mask the bright white sky.

3.) Next step is to change the blend setting to „drawn and parametric mask“. Now draw a mask as you like and you will see it adds the mask to the already existing parametric mask.

Hope this helps other darktable users too.

    Hi Darktable Experts,

    I tried a lot, to combine additively a parametric mask with an
    drawn mask.
    My picture is e.g. a standard landscape scenery picture white sky
    (overexposed) and green grass (to make it simple).
    I select with the parametric mask the white sky. Now I want to add
    a spot at the green gras via drawn mask. I know I can use two
    instance of the filter - but that's not what I want.
    I played a lot with inclusive and inclusive-invert and further
    invert masks again. But I was not able to do this simple tasks.
    May you give me a hint?
    Thx
    Sascha
