Once we have such information we will surely use it in the future to decode the raw files instead of shipping hard coded values for every camera. That might not happen anytime soon, but maybe in a year, two or three. However, once we do that your images will have wrong data in that field, making the files impossible to read with any version of darktable from that point in time on.
