Image write disable token instead? - Re: [darktable-user] Undo in lightable?

Just wondering if an "image write disable" that prevents any changes to the image (some what akin to the color buttons) might by a solution/option. It's not an undo but would protect image edits and could also prevent situations of accidental whole library changes. Not sure if feasible or how much work it would be to implement.
