Hi, I recommend you Riley Brandt's "The open source photography course" <http://lessons.rileybrandt.com/courses/fossphotocourse>[1]. It covers Darktable and also Gimp, there's an specific new course for portraits (check his site). Its contents are very well ordered and it saves you a ton of time looking for anything.
