But are you interested in astro-photography or nightscapes? The former often uses specialised programs (e.g. http://deepskystacker.free.fr/english/ index.html), as there are quite a few of steps to the process (darkframe subtraction, registration/aligning of the images, then the stacking itself). For the latter, something like Hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/) might do the trick (although 25 images is a lot). Don't be fooled by the presentation as a panorama stitcher, that's just the use it initially was developed for.
