Is there a way to transfer grouped images from one machine to another
without transferring the database?
The only way I know is to store the groups in tags and later regroup
images. While I was able to write a lua-script tagging the groups
automatically I ran into problems, because the amount of tags my
(super inefficient) script produced froze darktable when I wanted to
filter by tags. I could reduce the tags my script produces without
problems, but I wanted to know whether there are any tools that can
create this mapping automatically and maybe without the creation of tags.
The main reasons for transferring groups is, because I will shoot some
photos away from home and want to tag/group them on my laptop and move
the images to my computer when I return home.**When at home a can use
the groups to easily recognize images that need to be passed to hugin
together.
Thanks

Hi Holger,
I guess this is not possible since grouping is not a property of a
single image but a group of images and thus saved in the database.
Since I use grouping for different purposes I created a set of
hierarchical tags like this:
Image|Series|Panorama
Image|Series|Aperture
Image|series|chronological
Image|Series|Focus
Image|Series|HDR
and the resulting reimported is tagged by
Image|derived|Panorama
Image|derived|Aperture
Image|derived|chronological
Image|derived|Focus
Image|derived|HDR
which of course is a workaround but also gives you some more flexibility
and granularity in the overall workflow.

Bernhard
