Hi Guys,

@Jack - yes - baseline is disabled for filmic

@David - I did not use preset in filmic. If I turn preserve crominance - the results become even worse (pink)

@Remco - I just tried 15EV preset and extreme luminance about 50% - still very different. I take the point for clipped data but the effect is overall - the complete image is affected - not only the over exposed. Besides - this is just a sample. I am observing the same in images that have no clipped areas.

Honestly... the color difference basecurve vs filmic is so dramatic to me that is *forbidding* the use of the module in a significant amount of images for me. I am perplexed as "why" the color is so different. Tried to export the images and the effect is persistent in Geeqie.

Regards,

B

Hi Guys,

I am very confused at the coloring filmic is giving me - much redder
images and reduces the yellow tones.

It is possible to change the image of course with color correction or
something else. But when I compare filmic vs basecurve - the basecurve
gives me a color very close to the naturally scene while the filmic
looks much redder to me and it is also loosing the yellow hues seen in
the golden hour.

Just a quick look, but I had to reduce the exposure by about 1 EV (Exposure
module), and with the 15EV preset in "filmic" increase the 'extreme luminance
saturation' to about 50%. You will still get differences wrt the standard
basecurve.

It looks like the reds are over-exposed (clipped in the raw data), so hard to
get something realistic out of it as you are missing data.

Remco
