OK, I found the culprit .... The image is a Fujifilm RAF (nothing
extraordinary and not a jpg) but the history included a couple of
modules that were turned 'off' including the tone-curve. When I flushed
the tone-curve from the list and compressed the history stack the
strange histogram went away. Unusual!

A bit more information would have been nice (e.g. format of input image, any
editing done, etc.), but my first guess would be a jpeg with a white balance
correction (or colour correction), mainly on the green channel.
