Coming in from sideline, I would say it goes both ways. If someone writes 
something you just cannot understand, it's also perfectly possible to simply 
respond with "I'm sorry, I didn't get that, would you mind expanding or 
explaining?" All in all, that usually takes less time and energy than to get 
into an argument about who can be the more civil...
