Thanks for your ideas, they actually lead me to a workaround (see below).

I had and have checked "expand a single darkroom module at a time", so
that should be ok. And this actually works, when I open another module,
the view changes and my crop edits are taken into account.
Also closing the "crop and rotate" by clicking on the small triangle
does work. The shortcut to close the module does not.
But your remark about opening another module is actually leading to a
workaround. I have now bound Esc to open the exposure module, together
with the option to only have one module open, it does the job. I can
press Esc, then "crop and rotate" is closed properly, changes are
visible. Exposure module will be open, but that's not an issue.
So after all, I still think the behaviour of closing the "crop and
rotate" with a shortcut should be reviewed, but I could workaround the
main issue.

Tried with another key, same behaviour. Nevertheless will check if
something strange happens, I never used Esc for that before...
