This is a wrong answer even for Linux. Correct answer can be find in
documentation (but who reads that stuff):
https://darktable.gitlab.io/doc/en/effect_group.html#watermark

$HOME is home directory, AKA ~/. On macOS it's /Users/<username>/.
.config is a hidden directory, so it might not be shown in Finder.
watermarks directory likely doesn't exist yet, so create it.
