Look in ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc using a text editor for "panel_width=325".  It's line 102 on my Linux machine.  That may vary based on your own situation, but it will be close.

In the same location, look for "panel_width=325".  325 works best for
me on any monitor from my laptops with 1920x1080 resolution to 27"
external monitors similarly at 1920x1080 resolution.  Feel free to
experiment.
Thanks Willy and the others,

what do you mean by same location? I din't find this value in the
"GUI-settings, but

$ grep -i panel ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc
darkroom/ui/0/panel_collaps_state=
darkroom/ui/0/panels_collapse_controls=TRUE
lighttable/ui/1/panel_collaps_state=
lighttable/ui/1/panels_collapse_controls=TRUE
lighttable/ui/preview/panel_collaps_state=1
lighttable/ui/preview/panels_collapse_controls=false
max_panel_height=400
max_panel_width=2000
min_panel_height=64
min_panel_width=550
panel_scrollbars_always_visible=TRUE
ui_last/panel_bottom=0
ui_last/panel_left=-1
ui_last/panel_right=-1
ui_last/panel_top=0

So using 2000 I can enlarge the panel a lot now. But I cannot select a
directory then for the export. With earlier versions including 3.01 I
could click on an icon (similar to open a directory with images) and
select the output folder.
