Dear all,
First things first:
Fedora 32, Intel I5, 32GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970.
Currently DT 3.4., but same problem occurred under 3.2.1 as well.
I searched this list to find a thread where a similar problem was found under Win10, without a real solution. Besides I doubt that Win10 and Linux are comparable in this (and other) respect.

When trying to re-edit a previously edited photo DT almost stalls. No matter what I do, zoom in or out, retouch, move sliders it almost stalls. Retouching a single spot using the healing tool takes about 2-5 minutes, while one of the CPU-kernels is at 100% load, the other CPU-kernels are not equally stressed. Yes I have CL enabled and running.
Meanwhile I can run any other apps without any noticeable slowdown.

I found out that compressing the history stack "improves" things to like 3-5seconds for retouching a single spot. Editing new, that is photos that have not been previously edited, runs smoothly.

Any ideas?
And above all: Merry Christmas and stay healthy!!!!

Henning
