The subject line isn't what determines the thread, it's the
“References:” header.

The post you replied to was

In your reply (which was meant to start a new thread, but was a
reply) the relevant headers are:

  From: Bernhard <[email protected]>
  Subject: [darktable-user] why is this mailing list so slow?
  References: <[email protected]>
   <[email protected]>
  Message-ID: <[email protected]>

So you reference the other post and mail clients display the mail as
a reply in the same thread.

Either start a new thread by not replying to an existing (unrelated)
post or create a new thread by means of “Create New Message” (or
whatever your mail client calls it).

In this post I've deleted the references header, so it should show
up as a new thread.
