Dear Darktable Developers and Users,

First of all, many thanks to all the Developers for creating Darktable and
even more for the recent release v3.6.1

I am using the new Darktable v3.6.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 and just tried to "copy
& import..." pictures, which consist of JPEGs and RAWs. Specifically, each
shot was saved both as a JPEG and a RAW file. After "copy & import" I
wanted to group the two formats but pressing the "collapse grouped images"
icon didn't do anything: every picture appears twice in the lighttable,
once as JPEG and once as RAW.

Differently, if I just "add to library..." the pictures (so no copying and
renaming), then the automatic grouping of the corresponding JPEGs and RAWs
works as expected and each shot appears once in the lighttable.

Could the issue with "copy & import" be related to the fact that the
renaming function assigns different filenames (technically, different
"$(SEQUENCE)" number) to the corresponding JPG and RAW files, so Darktable
does not understand anymore that they are the same image and does not group
them together?

Is there a way to avoid the issue and still keep the cool automatic
renaming of "copy & import"?

Best,

Emanuele
