I'd be happy to do that, but I can't open the images right now. I'll see
if other machine cooperates. I'm doubtful if I will have all these
variations.

Many softwares that can open NEF files, XNview for instance, free and easy to use.

Have you tried opening the files in an image viewer? Many will display the embedded jpeg. Ufraw supports that camera so you do have ways getting something to look so you can find something suitable to send in.
