Hi Neal, not sure which video you are watching, but the videos and instructions I have seen from Aurélien require you to set the white balance to camera reference in order that the colour calibration module to work as designed.
BTW, I personally find that the white balance from the camera is often very good and do not add complication by always using the color balance module. However, there are times when it works very well at fixing problems. The real beauty of the module is with mixed lighting. You can only have one instance of white balance , but as many instances of color balance as you want. That is when it is really powerful. ________________________________ From: Neal Holtz <nho...@docuwebisi.ca> Sent: Tuesday, 18 January 2022 7:52 AM To: darktable-user@lists.darktable.org <darktable-user@lists.darktable.org> Subject: [darktable-user] DT 3.8.0: during color calibration: "white balance module error" Hello, I think I am following the instructions in Aurelien's video "Make the most out of darktable color calibration features" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EteAhSN9W8s<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EteAhSN9W8s> I have used the white balance module to create a preset appropriate for the type of lighting I used. Then in color calibration, CAT tab, I'm trying to calibrate using a supported color chart. I get warnings in both modules about white balance, the color calibration saying: "white balance module error". It seems to want me to choose 'camera reference' in white balance settings, but that is NOT what the video says. So I am confused. thanks neal -- N. M.
