Hi All,
I got some great advice from Martin on this issue - run
darktable-generate-cache it took a couple of hours but when finished I
could open a folder without having contaminating thumbnails in my
light-table view.
I have been working on a few folders recently and the problem crept in
again, so I ran darktable-generate-cache again but this time only half
an hour. I have not been so lucky. There are still a few incorrect
thumbnails.
Some background on my process may be helpful.
I upload my images from the camera card to a folder in my SSD called
"working", this is so that I can work more easily. A friend of mine who
is a Linux sys-admin has set up a series of backup processes which are
automated and run in the background. For example he has written a script
which creates a hierarchy when a new folder is created in the working
directory, I then copy my RAW files into the RAW dir of this hierarchy,
and I copy the camera generated jpgs into the JPG dir. An "Exported"
folder contains 3 folders Full Size Proofs and IG.
In darktable I load my RAW files and add to library, and things are
fine. But if, after processing the files from the session, I return and
generate some duplicates even up to five different treatments of an
image, then, on the next time I open that set I have thumbnails from
other folders occupying my light-table. When I select the intrusive
image it reveals the image which should have been there.
When I have done processing I move the Exported files to the Photos
folder on my RAID 1 drive, and I also move my RAW files to the RAID 1
drive. Then I delete the remnants from my "Working" folder on the SSD.
Now I have been running this same process for three years without any
issues, but when the new import process was put in place I have a lot of
trouble. For me the former process was perfect.
