Yes because in darktable module position = module order in the processing. You can't divide a module if internally it's a single operation. However, since a couple of versions you can use the quick access panel to simulate a simpler version of the GUI ( https://docs.darktable.org/usermanual/3.8/en/darkroom/organization/quick-access-panel/). So in principle you could create there a CAT-only version of the calibration module and completely ignore the rest until you need it.
