Hallöchen!

At http://wilson.homeunix.com/lens_calibration_tutorial/ you find my
new lens calibration tutorial. I release it together with a script
program that simplifies the process heavily. Just copy the
calibration shots in the proper directories and start the script.
(Well, almost.) The result can be copied into LensFun's database
directory.

Please calibrate lenses you own that are not yet included and send
the results to the LensFun project.

What is LensFun?

The "lens correction" module of darktable can eliminate
distortion of straight lines, colour fringes, and vignetting. Its
processing is virtually loss-less. It relies on the LensFun
library, which in turn relies on a lenses database. Its coverage
could be much better: Distortion correction exists mainly for
not-too-new Nikon and Canon lenses. TCA and vignetting correction
exists only for very few lenses. Even worse, the only LensFun
tutorial so far leads to unusable TCA and vignetting parameters.
Moreover, for vignetting, that tutorial is way too cumbersome. All
this was my motivation for the above tutorial + script.

The current LensFun database can be found at
<http://svn.berlios.de/wsvn/lensfun/trunk/data/db/>.

Bye,
Torsten.
