Thanks for the pointers.

I can report that rawstudio 2.0 seems to handle the files just fine,
at least I can load them and then export them as JPEGs.  But does this
mean the Darktable *ought* to be able to read my 3FR files, or does it
just mean that Darktable can (fairly easily) be made to read them?
