Ok, these are use cases where could be useful export-import of tags. For all other cases imo the current implementation works fine and xmp files are enough. About cooperation between darktable and other software: I think using same tags in xmp (where possible) is a good practice. But talking about proprietary software (adobe or other) is not simple to know how they works and imo should not be a darktable priority. About other free software may be things are more simple, but there are a lot of software so is not simple to guarantee a full compatibility (may be a lack of standardization). In this cases may be a better approach is to create external tools or scripts to migrate collections or to sync informations.
