Dear Colin,
indeed we have a user face translation for simplified chinese. It should
automatically be chose in case your system language is set to that
(zh_CN) but of course we are interested in a cross-check of that
translation. The relevant files can be found in our git repository in
the "po" folder.
Since the user manual is quite long it requires quite some time and
effort to translate that - I'm not sure your wife wants to do that... :)
If so it is of course highly appreciated! However, in that case it might
make sense to wait for darktable 1.2 and the corresponding updated and
reworked user manual.
