Ah... I'm ambivalent about hearing that. Glad Darktable isn't the root
cause... Sorry that your disk is dying...

Since a few versions Ubuntu does SMART checking out of the box
though... But it might require you to have SMART enabled in the BIOS,
as it doesn't force it on. So that might be worth checking out...

Ah... it's highly recommended... The 1.0.x series had a bug with JPEGs
causing excessive memory usage, which I think got fixed in 1.1.x... So
a LOT has changed.... improved since then. :)
