I think you're confusing things.... Disabling color management can't be a
solution, it's at best a work around...

So, I'm wondering if you have an invalid display profile loaded...

Please do note that I don't really support 11.10 anymore (on my PPAs), so
you're likely using a very dated version of Darktable.

Do consider upgrading to at least to Ubuntu Precise.
