I do have a similar problem, and currently my workflow is
1) using rapid-photo-downloader to download the raw files from the card
to the disk based on the date of creation.
2) Use Geeqie to go over the photos to delete those don't worth it. Use
of Geegie is without any thumbnail creation or tags so it is relatively
fast in full view
3) I then use darktable to work on the photos
a) using the lighttable view just color label that would worth
further work
b) elimaninate the ones that does not please me
I think one can not depend on one software to do the whole work hence I
use different tools to do the job
