I have never done any serious photo editing until I took a cource in basic photography and discovered Darktable 0.9 about a year ago. I had to learn a) the theory b) terminology c) the program basically the whole concept of making a photo instead of taking snapshots; at 65+ the learning curve is steep.
I have very little to complain about with darktable since it was my first, nothing to compare it to. I can go the other way. Since January I have been volunteering with a community TV production where I thought I would be carrying cables and coffee. It turns out I am now a video editor, camera operator, interviewer. That is a steep learning curve. To top that all off I have to learn Adobe PS6 Video editing software, some Adobe photo editing software on a PC and Final Cut on a Mac. I haven´t used a PC since Windoze 98 and never used a Mac (who wants an Apple that someone has already chewed on) I find Darktable UI much more intuitive than anything on the other OS, with Final Cut being the worst of all. I was going to say that is my 2 cents worth; but our fearless and all knowledgeable leader had them taken out of circulation, probably for that very reason.
