after the initial import darktable shows you (defaults to show you)
the embedded Jpegs. So the previews don't just look like the camera
jpeg, they are the camera jpeg. Your editing starts with the raw.
After editing the previews are based on your work.

You can always discard your edit history stack in lighttable mode,
which will return your preview to the embedded Jpeg. But this won't
help you in the editing process. If you really want to start with the
in-camera processed Jpegs, the best you can do is to create a (set of)
style(s) that mimics the camery jpegs the best you can and work from
there. Yet, this might not always be the best choice.
