Hi, I experience the same problem as ist was stated by Marcin Sikora earlier this year. If I import my pictures (around 5.500 in several folders) to DT, switching from DR to LT takes about 30 seconds, starting DT consumes 30 seconds again. I tried version 1.2.2, the unstable package from the ppa and I compiled it myself. No difference. I played around with the settings, deleted the database and started again, imported in several portions or ad once. Regardless what I do, if i have more than around 3.000 pictures in the database, DT starts to slow down.
The files are mainly DNG and Jpeg plus some Tiff, no scans. My machine is a Intel I7, 8GB with 500GB HDD 7.200 and Intel graphics on board (Laptop, Fujitsu e782). Do you have any hints what might solve this problem?
