I am not sure that I really understand what you mean, but I guess it's something like a mode that only uses the darkroom mode and ignores all of lighttable and file management. We will surely not provide something like that, and I doubt that it's possible (or feasible) to turn darktable into a kipi-plugin. What is however possible is to write some code that calls darktable with the filename on the command line, also tells dt to definitely write out an XMP, then after it terminated uses dt-cli to export the RAW file with the XMP and use that. It's up to the calling tool to take care of the XMP files though. This won't need any change from dt's side so you can start coding right now. Tobias
