In theory it should work like this (for systems with >1 screen):

First darktable will see on which screen the majority of the center widget is 
on. Let this be screen number <number>.

When _ICC_PROFILE_<number> is set that profile will be used as the system 
display profile. When dt is compiled with colord support it will also try to 
ask that service for the display profile for the (most) relevant screen.

Since sometimes the setup might give wrong results from either the xatom or 
colord (for me the xatom seems to not work, possibly an issue with my setup) 
recent compiles from git master have the option to limit this to only check 
the xatom, only ask colord or use both.

So even with multi screen setups everything should work, as long as the center 
area is only on one screen. Otherwise parts will be wrongly corrected as we 
don't split the image up into separate parts when they overlap the screen 
border.

Currently the only way to know which profile gets used is to start darktable 
with "-d control" and look for messages about loading profiles. darktable 
checks whenever the window is moved or resized.
