I just tested here and can't reproduce. Importing a folder of images 
works flawlessly. How many images do you have in that folder? Has the 
filmroll already been processed by darktable, i.e. are there already XMP 
files present or just virgin input images? Reason I'm asking: there can 
be problems when darktable tries to import an image which comes along 
with a corrupted XMP file.
