Hey all,
An update. I upgraded my ram and increased my core options. shadows and
highlights works just fine now
and my jpg export time with 6GB ram is an acceptable 30-45 seconds per image
(more if I use denoise, but I suppose thats expected). Thanks all for your
help! Time for me to finish off the projects I was sitting on.

I am exporting both tiff and jpg ... my tiff go out (full sized) in
about 15 seconds and the jpg (resampled from full size) go out in about
4 to 5 seconds at most.
