I currently have around 150 GB of photos that are in a mix of .NEF and .DNG
from two different cameras. I am now attempting to migrate from Lightroom to
Darktable.

I seem to be able to import the .NEF into darktable with Lightroom settings
getting passed through. The DNGs are causing me some trouble. The DNGs aren't
getting any of the lightroom settings imported into dt. So I see the raw file
with no processing.

Running gdb I see that it seems to be a problem at:

[exiv2] Failed to read Panasonic IFD Makernote header

I tried running exiv2 on it's own (from command line) and got the same. I tried
a different Exif reader (ExifTool 9.54) and this could read all the .DNG
metadata. The camera is a GF2. So not exactly new.

Internet search doesn't seem to bring up any other reported problems with
regard to this message.

Is there anything I can do to get around this? Is it just a case that the
Panasonic header hasn't been implemented in exiv2? Are there any options I
could take in darktable to bypass/get around this?

I really don't want to have to setup wine/lightroom...
