Having highlight recovery on will indeed have that effect.  In my case though 
all the fancy exposure options are turned off and there is still a distinctly 
darker exposure from the K30 than my other Pentax cameras, again though this 
has nothing to do with dt but is a camera characteristic.

Someone else posted the reason: If you have highlight recovery set to on, what 
the K-30 does is underexpose by 1EV. Some RAW readers detect the flag and use a 
different curve to account for this. DT, likely, does not.
Probably it's best if I just turn the feature off and see if it makes a 
difference.
