I do a lot of low key portraits using a Nikon D800. The RAW files are
edited using Daktable on a Linux box (Ubuntu 14.04). Currently, I am
running version 1.5+1254~g40b3c8c (from Pascal's PPA). In a number of
photos some "stains" show up in the black background of (in the processed
JPG file). An example is available at
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2171814/darktable.tar.bz2
In this case, the stains can be found in the lower left part of the image
(make sure to zoom in to take a closer look). Here, I opened the RAW file
and exported the JPG file with no further editing. When I do some minor
editing (exposure, tone curve etc.) the problem gets worse. Using the Nikon
alternate base curve does not help (in most cases). I know that I can
disable the base curve and do all editing from ground zero, but that is a
lot of work when I have a large number of files to edit.
Tips and suggestions are welcome. Many thanks in advance. FC
